Delhi Govt discharges ₹938 crores to fund wages of MCD staff

“After reducing the budget of several departments of Delhi govt, we are releasing ₹938 crores to pay for the salaries of MCD employees.”

TheNewsDesk: On Thursday, Satyendra Jain, Delhi minister declared that the Delhi Government will deliver ₹938 crores to fund wages of workers of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

He stated, “After reducing the budget of several departments of Delhi govt, we are releasing ₹938 crores to pay for the salaries of MCD employees.”

Manish Sisodia, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister attacked Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for mistreating Delhi MCD’s funds. Sisodia claimed that the BJP has left the MCD bankrupt.

Sisodia stated, “North and east municipal corporations are bankrupt, they have ₹12 crores & ₹99 lakh in their bank accounts respectively. They have a loan amount of ₹6,276 crores to be paid to the Delhi govt. BJP has left the MCDs bankrupt.”

Sisodia also declared that even BJP leaders have admitted that MCD is facing problems due to corruption. The Aam Aadmi Party leader stated, “In 14 years of corrupt rule, BJP has sucked the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) dry. The municipal corporations are not in a state to pay the salaries of their employees. Even BJP leaders have agreed that corruption is at its peak in MCD.”

MCD employees also stated that they will not continue their responsibilities if they do not get their wages. These employees have been sitting on a strike since January 7 asking that their unsettled wages be cleared instantly.

In December, numerous BJP administrators held rallies outside Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence. They demanded dues of ₹13,000 crores from the AAP government to pay the salaries of MCD workers. The AAP Government had then claimed misappropriation of funds in North Delhi MCD and ordered an inquiry against them.
