THD NewsDesk, Hyderabad: Indian Medical Association (IMA) has emphasised on the necessity for an attentive medical administrative service focusing on the hiatus influenced by COVID-19. It also asked Indian Medical Service (IMS) to be formed on the lines of IAS, IPS and IRS in the country on Sunday.

The purpose is to provide MBBS graduates to select between a super-specialty course or an executive service. Presently, in government hospitals, doctors are provided with an extra charge of administrative work, though MBA graduates are hired to manage marketing in the private sector hospitals.

General Secretary Sanjeev Singh Yadav, Indian Medical Association (IMA), Telangana said, “We are suggesting that IMS be brought in and made compulsory for both the sectors. One of the major learning from the pandemic is that the healthcare industry needs both humanity and profit-making skills.”

Senior Health official declared, “In fact, there was a plan to have this kind of a system in the state previously, but it has not taken off.”

Healthcare industry representatives consider that an MBBS graduate educated in the administration would perform them significantly to control a catastrophe like Covid-19 in future juxtaposed to a civil servant.
