Ministry to increase Jan Aushadhi Kendras to 10,500 till March 2025

New Delhi: The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers stated on Thursday that it is viewing to raise Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras to 10,500 in the country by March 2025. The ministry added that currently, the quantity of Janaushadhi Kendras were 6,606 in the country.

DV Sadananda Gowda, Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers, said: “With a vision to provide quality medicines at affordable rates for the common man especially the poor, the government has set a target to increase the number of PMBJKs to 10,500 by the end of March 2025.”

Through this measure, all the districts in the country will acquire Janaushadhi Kendras. Further, they added, it will guarantee the smooth accessibility of affordable medicine to people in every inch of the country.

The statement informed that presently, four warehouses of the PMBJKs are operative at Gurugram, Chennai, Guwahati, and Bengaluru. The administration further intends to precede two more warehouses in the nation.

Besides the expansion of the kendras, efficient IT-enabled logistics with the supply-chain network will be installed for assuring the immediate distribution of medicines at all channels is being drafted. These activities will enable polished institutions for the benefit of the masses.
