State creates a three step system for Covid vaccination programme: Rajasthan

Jaipur, THDNewsDesk: Amidst the outbreak in Covid cases, the State Government has given a ray of hope by hitting off arrangements for the vaccine drive. While it is preparing to run Covid vaccine first to healthcare workers, the state government has created a three-tier system for the vaccination drive. The health department is persisting to get figures of government and private hospitals delivering treatment.

On Tuesday, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot declared methods of creating a three-tier system for the vaccine campaign, which involves a state-driven council, state task force and district task force for efficient policymaking, implementation, monitoring of vaccination.

The state-driven panel will be proceeded by the Chief Secretary, state task force by Health Secretary, and district task force by the District Collector. The three-tier system will ensure proper transportation, availability, assuring the availability of supplies and administration of vaccination programme at ground level.

However, the Health Department is making a separate list of healthcare staff deployed at Covid-19 hospitals. Dr Laxman Singh Ola, director, family welfare stated, “Since doctors and healthcare staff remain in direct contact with Covid patients, they are at higher risk of getting infected. The government is planning for administering vaccine first to such healthcare staff.”

The Health Department is gathering details of healthcare staff from both private and government hospitals. Dr Narrottam Sharma, chief medical health officer, Jaipur stated, “Covid-19 vaccines trial is in the final stages. We have directed private hospitals to send data of their staff on a priority basis who are deployed in Covid care. The state government is planning to vaccinate healthcare staff deployed for Covid care on a priority basis.”

The state government is also holding stock of the free resources in the health department for Covid vaccination, its storage and transportation.

The government will open nursing and GNM colleges, schools. On Tuesday, the home department declared an order that the state government has selected to open nursing and GNM colleges and schools for final year students from December 1. The medical and health department will issue separate guidelines.
