Ayurveda provides a lovely viewpoint on stress management, Stress is the sensation we experience when under pressure. In the modern period, it has become an essential part of everyone’s existence. Numerous things, including changes in the environment, temperature extremes, altitude, fury, anxiety, shock, sadness, and pain, can cause stress. One’s physical, mental, emotional, and behavioural balance may be upset by this, and other body parts may also be harmed. All forms of morbidities are brought on by unhealthy eating, inconsistent and incorrect routines, and mental disturbances.

Here are some of the Ayurveda products to help manage and lessen stress in all of us:

1. Brahmi

Brahmi is commonly known that Brahmi can lower stress. Cortisol, the stress hormone, is known to be reduced by it. By controlling the hormones involved in the stress response, this plant reduces the negative consequences of stress. It further improves your ability to focus while reviving your brain cells and calming your nervous system.

We all know how important it is to have a robust immune system. The organic style of life has gained a lot of popularity recently. Ayurvedic remedies, mixtures, and other techniques are being used by more and more people to increase their immunity. Nowadays, people are hunting for everything organic.

Herbs used in Ayurveda have many health advantages. Brahmi, also known as Ayurveda’s favourite child, is one such herb. Here are five Brahmi health advantages and instructions for using it.

2. Ashwagandha

The adaptogen ashwagandha, which is made up of vitamins and amino acids, helps the body adjust to stressful situations while also boosting energy, stamina, and endurance. Additionally, it encourages restful sleep, harmonises the body’s energies, and aids in treating insomnia.

One of the greatest herbs for balancing Vata is ashwagandha. It is calming, rooted, and comforting. It somewhat increases thyroid activity, which is likely what causes the warming effect, making it a useful herb for people who have borderline or poor thyroid function.

Ashwagandha is not ideal for Pitta doshas to use for an extended period of time due to its warming nature (they are already warm). Over time, it may intensify their heat and make them more irritable. However, a few weeks of use during a very nervous period rarely causes issues.

Anxiety is an indication of a transient Vata dosha imbalance. (Although each person contains all three doshas, only one is often dominant in their constitution and is referred to as the “primary” dosha. However, any one of the three can become out of balance and produce symptoms.) There is strong scientific support for the use of ashwagandha as an anxiety reducer. It also shows promise for disorders affecting the nervous system and neurologic system, including PTSD, insomnia, cognitive impairment, and stress. 400–800 mg per day is a typical dose.

3. Jatamasi

Jatamasior Spikenard is a herb that reduces tension and weariness. The main medicinal components of Jatamasi that might relieve tension in your mind are the plant’s roots. These roots create a sense of stability and keep the body and mind clear of toxins and obstructions, promoting healthy brain function.

Jatamasi has been utilised in Ayurveda for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. It contributes to anxiety, sadness, sleeplessness, and other conditions. It has even been discovered to be protective against exposure to gamma radiation. It is a very potent antioxidant. It is now being investigated as a cancer treatment or preventive more recently. Due to its lesser popularity in the United States, this herb is a little more difficult to locate, yet it is still valuable. The daily dose is 500–1500 mg.

4. Tulsi

Probably the best weed I’ve ever used. Holy basil has a name that says it all. In India, it has long been regarded as a sacred plant. Aside from its many health advantages, holy basil also possesses anti-anxiety, mild anti-depressant, antioxidant, and anti-stress/adrenal protecting actions. Along with other things, it possesses antiviral, analgesic, and blood sugar stabilising characteristics.

The herb tulsi in Ayurveda offers defence against mental, emotional, and physical strain. As a tea that I kept in a thermos, I consumed it continuously for myself to get through residency training (after medical school). Tulsi was a wonderful gift to me at the time and is still a part of my daily health regimen now.

As a tea, tincture, liquid gel, pill, and powder, tulsi is a versatile herb. The typical dose is 500–1000 mg, taken up to three times each day, as necessary. One or more times per day, I often use a full tea ball or two to three tea bags/cup. When it comes to relaxing and soothing the neurological and endocrine systems at the end of the day, tulsi tea is an excellent substitute for alcohol. Your garden will vibrate harmoniously if you grow this plant at home.

5. Bacopa

A traditional Ayurvedic herbal remedy called bacopa (Bacopa monnieri), also referred to as “Brahmi,” exists. (Gotu kola is occasionally referred to as Brahmi, which is confusing. If one is careful and starts with a modest dose, both herbs can be combined to enhance both cognitive function and anxiety.) Bacopa provides advantages for anxiety, ADHD, and mental/memory clarity. In fact, it has been researched extensively as an alternative to stimulants prescribed for children with ADHD (and performed well for this purpose). The use of bacopa in older persons or those with cognitive decline is also backed by a significant body of research evidence. The typical daily dosage is roughly 750 mg (range: 500–900 mg).

Conclusion:

There are no simple answers to the complex problem of anxiety. I have noticed the most changes when a person puts out consistent effort in all areas of life. If these recommendations are followed properly and regularly, I have seen people’s anxiety levels dramatically decrease. Consider a change in lifestyle as opposed to a one-time modification.

Don’t overlook the crucial part that compassion plays in all healing processes, either. Some people are genuinely more sensitive and prone to anxiety.

This is probably ideal for the special learning, development, and operation of their souls. Therefore, having reasonable expectations is beneficial, especially if you think you’re a little more prone to stress and concern than the average person.
