Indian Doctors warn against cow dung as a COVID cure.

Since the start of the pandemic, doctors and other healthcare workers are fighting on multiple fronts against the deadly virus.

Not only inside hospitals but also from spreading misinformation regarding the disease. The newest fight is against a rumor that trash can help against the coronavirus. A claim that’s not supported by any research or medical personnel.

Some people within the western state of Gujarat have been visiting cow shelters regularly for a few days. They believe that covering their bodies in trash and urine boosts their immunity and helps them to fight the virus.

The majority of the Hindu population in India considers cows a holy animal and a logo of life and earth. They have been using trash to wash their houses and in praying rituals also, believing that it’s medicinal and therapeutic advantages.

“We see even doctors come here. Their belief is that this therapy improves their immunity and that they can go and have a tendency to patients with no fear,” said Gautam Manilal Borisa, an associate manager at a drug manufacturing company, who said the practice helped him get over COVID-19 last year.

As participants await the dung and urine mixture on their bodies to dry, they hug or honor the cows at the shelter, and practice yoga to spice up energy levels. The packs are then washed off with milk or buttermilk.

The cow shelter where people are coming for the trash therapy is situated right ahead of the Indian headquarters of Zydus Cadila, which is developing its COVID vaccine.

Doctors are warning people to not use any unauthorized alternate method for the treatment of the disease. This might do more harm than good to the body and might complicate your health also.

“There is not any concrete scientific evidence that trash or urine work to spice up immunity against COVID-19; it’s based entirely on belief. There also are health risks involved in smearing or consuming these products. Other diseases can spread from the animal to humans”, said Dr. JA Jayalal, the national president of the Indian Medical Association.
