About the hospital
King Saud Medical City (KSMC) in Riyadh was established on 8 Rabi al-Thani 1376 AH (1956), during the reign of King Saud bin Abdulaziz, according to KSMC. It says it was first named King Saud Hospital and later became Riyadh Central Hospital and then Riyadh Medical Complex. The Ministry of Health announced in November 2010 that King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz had approved changing the name of King Saud Medical Complex to King Saud Medical City.
Health Holding Company lists KSMC as the medical city of the Riyadh First Health Cluster, and the Saudi Press Agency described it in September 2024 as part of that cluster. KSMC says it has expanded to include the General Hospital, outpatient clinics, emergency services, the King Fahad Charitable Center for Kidneys, a dental centre, a prosthetics unit, the Children’s Hospital and the Gynecology and Childbirth Hospital.
