Send news to the desk

Send the desk an announcement, an opening, an approval, a deal or a story idea. An editor reads every submission. Nothing is published automatically.

Paste the full text and link to the original document, because we report from primary sources. If your announcement makes a claim about a product’s effect or safety, link the regulator decision, the paper or the filing that supports it.

Your contact details go to the desk only and are never published.

What happens next

  1. An editor reads it. Every submission goes into the desk’s queue. Nothing is published automatically.
  2. We check it. We confirm the sender against the organisation, read the original document, and for any product claim read the regulator decision, paper or filing behind it.
  3. We edit it. Announcements are cut for length, put into house style and published with a “Company announcement” label and a link to the original.
  4. It joins the profile. If the organisation is in The Register, the story appears on its profile.

What we publish

  • New hospitals, units and bed additions, with beds, location, investment and dates.
  • Regulatory approvals and decisions, with the regulator, jurisdiction and status.
  • Deals, investment and funding, with the parties and the terms disclosed.
  • Contract awards and tender results from public buyers.
  • Senior appointments at providers, payers, suppliers and regulators.
  • Results, reports and research with the figures and the method.

What we do not publish

  • Consumer health advice, offers and promotions.
  • Product claims without the evidence behind them.
  • Text with no named source or no way to check it.
  • Awards that are paid for.

Publication is free and at the editor’s discretion. Advertising does not buy coverage, and a listing in The Register is not required.

The Handover

In a hospital, the handover is when one shift tells the next what changed and what to watch. Ours does the same for the business of healthcare, every weekday morning once it launches.

One email each weekday after launch. Unsubscribe at any time.
