What it supplies
CMR Surgical is a medical devices company headquartered in Cambridge, United Kingdom, founded in 2014 by five founders. It develops Versius Plus, a modular surgical robot for minimal access surgery that it says can move between departments and operating rooms without a dedicated theatre. The system is supplied with fully articulated instruments, the vLimeLite fluorescence visualisation system and two apps, Versius Connect for surgeons and Versius Team for hospital teams.
The company says Versius has reached 45,000 cases worldwide and that it partners with hospitals rather than selling to them. On 12 October 2026 CMR Surgical and Stryker announced a strategic alliance under which Stryker will make a preferred equity investment of approximately USD 400 million (GBP 300 million), with an exclusive option to acquire the company, subject to regulatory approvals and closing conditions. CMR will continue to lead commercialisation outside the United States.
