India battles black marketing of Covid vaccine

THD NewsDesk, New Delhi: The Government will trace coronavirus vaccine shipments once the vaccines are available. This action is to restrict the COVID-19 cure’s black marketing. The Government has informed it will obtain COVID-19 vaccinations centrally. Further, vaccine shipments will be pursued in real-time to ensure that they reach undeviatingly to those in need; there is no black-marketing without any.

Outlining the primary preference granted to healthcare workers, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has announced that the checklist of frontline medical personnel will include the Government. Additionally, it will also incorporate the following-

October-end will conclude the preparation training. Vardhan continued that the Ministry keeps an eye on immunity data concerning COVID-19.
“Government is working to ensure that there is a fair and equitable distribution of vaccines, once they are ready. Our utmost priority is how to ensure a vaccine for each and everybody in the country,” Vardhan said on Sunday, October 4, while interacting with social media users during Sunday’s Samvaad-4.

The Centre will track coronavirus vaccines following several reports regarding antiviral drug Remdesivir, and other medicines are sold across black markets in Delhi and other parts of the country. As per the distribution rules, companies authorized to produce and sell the stocks are deemed to provide them only to hospitals and not to chemists.

However, people were reportedly falsifying prescriptions and approaching the organizations’ sales executives, who directly provided Remdesivir to them. The drug was allegedly being sold in the black market for Rs 40,000-70,000.

Following this, the Centre sprang into action to suspend the practice in diverse ways, collating data from chemist shops, conducting daily stock checks, deploying decoy consumers, and compelling companies to jack up production.

Now, the Centre is working to ensure a fair and equal distribution of coronavirus vaccines.
“Our govt is working round the clock to ensure that there is a fair and equitable distribution of vaccines, once they are ready. Our utmost priority is how to ensure vaccine for each and everybody in the country,” Vardhan said.
