What you need to know

  • Park Medi World has marked the start of construction of a 550-bed multi-super-speciality hospital in Prayagraj, built under a public-private partnership with the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation, the company said in a press release dated 14 October 2026.
  • The company put the investment at approximately Rs 200 crore and targets completion within two years of the appointed date under the concession agreement; that date has not been disclosed.
  • The group operates 17 hospitals with about 4,290 beds and says it aims for about 6,660 beds by December 2028.

Park Medi World Ltd, which runs hospitals under the Park brand in north India, has held a ceremony to mark the start of construction of a 550-bed multi-super-speciality hospital in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, according to a company press release dated 14 October 2026 and distributed by NewsVoir. Medical Dialogues reported the release on 17 October. The hospital is being developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) with the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation, and the company put the investment at approximately Rs 200 crore.

The facility is targeted for completion within two years from the appointed date under the concession agreement, the release said. The appointed date was not disclosed, so an expected opening date cannot be worked out from the release. Beyond the description “multi-super-speciality”, the specialities the hospital will offer were not named, and the release did not give the date of the ceremony or name those who attended.

How the project was set up

Park Medi World received the PPP mandate in August 2026, according to the release. In September the company disclosed in a regulatory filing that it had incorporated a wholly owned subsidiary, Park Medicity Prayagraj Ltd, to develop and operate the hospital, Medical Dialogues reported on 10 September. Park Medi World subscribed to 1,50,000 equity shares of Rs 10 each in the subsidiary, a total of Rs 15 lakh.

The concession period, any revenue-sharing or bed-reservation terms with the municipal corporation, the land arrangements and how the Rs 200 crore will be funded have not been disclosed.

Where it fits in the network

Park Medi World currently operates 17 hospitals with a combined capacity of approximately 4,290 beds across 15 cities in six north Indian states, according to the release. The company said it aims to reach approximately 6,660 beds by December 2028 through new hospital developments, acquisitions and capacity additions at existing facilities. The quotation from managing director Dr Ankit Gupta and the company description in the same release give the target as approximately 6,600 beds, and the release does not explain the difference. Dr Gupta described the ceremony as an important milestone in the group’s expansion.

In Uttar Pradesh the company operates a 360-bed hospital in Agra and has hospitals in Kanpur and Gorakhpur due to be commissioned soon under what it calls the O&M model, the release said. Its Punjab hospitals include sites in Bathinda, Patiala and Mohali.

In its 2025-26 annual report, Park Medi World said it planned to add 1,450 beds by FY28, mainly in tier 1, 2 and 3 cities in northern India, according to a Press Trust of India report published by Business Standard on 30 August 2026. That report said the company had 1,168 doctors across its network and employed 6,423 people as of 31 March 2026, and recorded FY26 total revenue of Rs 1,679.4 crore and net profit of Rs 273.6 crore.

Our reading

  • The Healthcare Daily’s reading: on the company’s own figures, the gap between today’s 4,290 beds and the 6,660-bed target is about 2,370 beds, and Prayagraj would supply 550 of them. Because the two-year build clock starts from an undisclosed appointed date, it is not yet clear whether this hospital will count towards the December 2028 target.
  • With a municipal corporation as concession partner, the commercial terms, such as any reserved beds or set tariffs, could shape returns as much as the build cost. None of those terms has been published, so investors cannot yet judge the project’s economics.
  • For medical equipment, fit-out and construction suppliers, the appointed date is the figure to watch, since it fixes the completion deadline and therefore the procurement window.
