THD NewsDesk, MUMBAI: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport has become the first Indian Airport to be accredited under the Airport Council International Health Accreditation program.
ACI Health Accreditation program has accredited Mumbai’s CSMIA acknowledging the health and safety initiatives adopted by it. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Airport has ramped up its facility in terms of health and hygiene to provide for a corona-protected environment.
CSMIA has taken the guidelines issued by the government and regulatory bodies with utmost seriousness to ward off the possibility of even a single coronavirus case among its passengers. Sensing threat from the ongoing pandemic, airport facilities have become extra-cautious about the safety of its passengers, making sure there is no discrepancy.
Further, airports have become liable for the protection of its staff as well. Physical distancing throughout the airport establishment is being given the foremost priority with special emphasis on a 100% contactless experience.
A systematic plan of physical distancing has been implemented, and glass partitions have been installed at counters. Further, online booking of tickets is being encouraged to avoid minimum interaction between the customers and the staff. In addition to that, a thorough screening of passengers availing the flight services has been made mandatory.
In compliance with the recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and Council Aviation Task Force (CART), special care is being taken that cabs around the Airport are also being sanitized regularly along with daily cleaning and disinfection of the airport building.
Taking due responsibility, CSMIA has arranged for PPE kits and protective gear for its functioning staff to make physical distancing more effective. Sanitizers have been strategically installed to foster a hygienic environment.
Formulating a well-thought structure in accordance with the health and safety guidelines and successfully enforcing it amidst a pandemic has earned CSMIA ACI’s accreditation. Passengers who earlier felt anxious about travelling by air since the domestic flight services resumed from 25th May, feel reassured owing to the precautionary measures undertaken.
