THDNewsDesk: Recently, South Korea-established global diagnostic company Genbody Inc has obtained permission from ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) and Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) to provide its high-accuracy antigen test kits in India. It is named ‘Genbody Covid-19 AG’. The medical diagnostic company has allianced with Mumbai-based Vishat Diagnostic to administer the test kits in India.
To check high rates of false negatives with antigen tests, the company has devised this kit to optimize efficient results. The test shows specificity of 98.0% and sensitivity of 90%, and an accuracy of 94.0% potentially, one of the most reliable antigen tests in India. It also successfully convinced the acrimonious ICMR guidelines for antigen test approval.
Genbody Covid-19 AG provides results within 15 minutes after the hospital receives a specimen from the patient’s nasal or throat with a swab. The kit is a point of responsibility test, used within or outside standard laboratory frames. Samples should be obtained by the nasopharyngeal route and examined within one hour of specimen collection.
