THD HelpDesk, Bengaluru: Wipro 3D, the metal additive manufacturing (AM) business of Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (WIN) has announced a collaboration with GenWorks Health on Tuesday. Both the companies would endeavour to manufacture affordable breathing assistance device.
A Press statement released said the focus needs to shift to non-invasive (NIV) respiratory assistant device. The objective would be to make it available to any healthcare expert treating patients with respiratory distress.
According to the Health Ministry, 5.8% of patients require oxygen therapy and around 1.7% need intensive care.
Airbridge Device is a specially designed device for breathing assistance. It would help people needs breathing aid but cannot access ventilator support, including COVID patients.
Advantages of the AirBridge device:
- It could support patients from few hours to few days.
- Could also be accessed in remote areas.
- Would be helpful in the transportation of patients where a constant supply of electricity is problematic.
Ajay Parikh, Vice-President & Business Head of Wipro 3D said,

We have in AirBridge, a good balance of capability to offer a wide range of use cases, cost efficiency and operability that can offer an excellent solution to address respiratory distress, especially Covid-19 patients.”
He also added,
“With support from GenWorks Health, we hope to accelerate the adoption of this life-saving technology across healthcare facilities in the country.”
At a time when India is witnessing a steep surge in the number of COVID cases, this major step could prove to relieve some misery of the Indian population truly.
